  1. After the three of us had a meeting this weekend going over all the information we had. We decide to contact USBC on Monday. After commutation with USBC we have decide not to rerate Andrea Sharp for this tournament. Feel free to contact Johnny Harris at 434-660-1780 or Sam Farthing at 434-251-2308 if you would like to know why.

    • That honestly is a shame. And is a crock of shit. Glad to know how things go wroth this tournament and myself and about 15 other teams that go worth me every year will not be returning

  2. Hello
We are currently working on this matter. Please allow us some time for facts finding. I will advise when we have an answer.
    Thank you for your patience

  3. It truly is a shame that for the 2016 mixed state tournament several people have gone to the so called tournament director about Andrea Sharp and her sand bagging that she is well known for and yet noone has done anything. She has been rerated in the greater Fredericksburg because of this. Her and her partner for doubles Jon Blanton both are sand baggers. They will go into league and bowl with a plastic ball and then go to tournaments and pull out reactive balls. It also doesn’t help that the oil pattern was posted and Jon runs a bowling. This is for sure a tournament that I will never return to, unless the complaint is actually taken seriously

      • This is not just happening in this tournament – I have voiced my concern about the Women’s State – the average for the two divisions needs to be reevaluated. Ladies are coming in with the 155 average for Division A and then BAM bowling all 200’s during the tournaments and if you check out their averages in the leagues – they are only bowling 21 games to maintain an average to bowl in this (several leagues) – once again Sandbagging is going on. Raise Division A averages to at least a 165 or 170.

We have a meeting scheduled for this weekend to address this matter.
With the State President, State Association Manager and myself. I’m sorry that you did not think we were going to take what you said serous.
Johnny or myself will reply back to you after the meeting, Thank you,
      Sam Farthing

    • Sandbagger,
It truly is a shame that you would not leave your real name and own up to your accusations. I would like to address your comments.
      1. Andrea was not rerated she was given an adjust average for the GFUSBC championship tournaments. Her average in those past 6 tournaments (for which they used the avg. to adjust hers) was 13 pins higher than her current entering average which falls below the UCBS standard of 15 pins over for the past 12 months.
      2. I as well as Andrea would be very happy to sit down and compare tournament scores with you. For anyone who would like to see the past 15 months of tournaments and scores we would be very happy to send them to you. Please reply to this post with a request.

      3. I have used a plastic ball in many situations including tournaments. On today’s conditions it is sometimes the most appropriate choice. I am not aware of any rule that requires me to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment to compete at any level, if there is would you please send it to me as I do not break rules.

      4. I must have missed the notice of any USBC tournament putting out a pattern for us to see other than the USBC national championships. Could you please send me the link as I am sure many would like to practice on it as they do for our National Championships?

      5. To address the over all sandbagging issue I handed this letter to a GFUSBC vice president last week as I bowl with him. A copy is being submitted to the NCABA as well as the Virginia State association.

      GFUSBC Board of Directors,

I would like to take moment of your time to express some ideas I have for the championship tournaments being held in the association.
      1. I believe a single entry fee for each event may draw more bowlers into these events.
Example: An event would cost $40.oo; that will make you eligible in both the HDCP and Scratch portion of that event. The bowler would cash only once, the highest place finished (Cash Value) between HDCP and Scratch. Allowing a Bowler to cash only once in either the HDCP or Scratch side of the event will allow the tournament to pay out more Bowlers which should in turn draw in more participants. This would also hold true for the Doubles and Team Events.

      2. Average for Handicapping purposes should reflect the Highest of the following:
Local Championships tournament average. Would based on most recent 3 association tournaments. (Total pins divided by total games)
Past three seasons of USBC certified league play of 21 games or more to include summer averages.
Any league average reported as a Sport or Challenge league will be adjusted utilizing the USBC Sport Average Adjustment Scale
      USBC Rules 319a, 319b, 319c, 319d and 319e should apply
The USBC Open Championship has adopted the majority of those average rules in an attempt to bring integrity back to the sport of bowling. Is my hope that all the state and local associations would do the same.

      • You are awfully defensive for someone who says they have done nothing wrong. And rerated or adjusted it doesn’t matter clearly something that is being done by that person is clearly being done wrong

      • You are very defensive when it is coming to this situation. And adjusted or rerated it doesn’t matter clearly one sanction figured out what was going on with that lady and chose to do the right thing. Other wise why would she have needed to have average adjusted? That alone just seems like it is wrong

  4. I am looking for a bowling coach. Is there a list of certified coaches and where could I get some help finding one to help improve my game. Also are there any schools I can attend? Thank you in advance for your time.

  5. Virginia USBC Senior State Tournament “All events – handicap” totals do not appear to include 3 events. For example, my records indicate I bowled my average, scratch (202) for 9 games, and with handicap averaged 230 for 9 games for a total of approximately 2070. Yet, the web site shows a total of 1370 (approx)! The total for all events – handicap appears to be inaccurate!

    Thank You

  20. You know it is sad since the Women’s State has gone to two divisions – if you look at those under the 150 average – a lot of the ladies only get in 21 games to get a lowest average in the higher division nd then come back to place – been watching this since the tournament split into divisions – I love to see the ladies – but it has turned into a sandbag tournament – especially in scratch and the pots they run – I will still come just won’t expect to place even when I score way above my average –

  22. Who do we contact about the fact that we have never received a response / confirmation of our entry for the 2015 tourney?

    • Your inquiry has been forwarded to the State Association Manager for followup. It is assumed you are referring to an entry in the 2015 Open, which started last weekend.

  23. With regards to womens state – before it show what you had to bowl to place – notice that does not show that on the “unofficial” results – why not?

    • Hello Donna
The exact “low to cash” at this time isn’t determined. Anne Ray (Women’s Tournament Manager) has decided to add money into the prize fund. Anne is determing how much money is available to be added. That could change the “low” once Anne has added the additional money. Please check back and we should have an update in the near future.

      • He sent you email on July 25 to jamesshane2@aol.com (which is where your original inquiry came from).

The tournament awarded scholarships in a ratio of 1 to 10 and this is where James finished.
He was to far down on the list in all the events to be awarded in any scholarships.

James, you finished in the following manner.

        Team – 16th in Div 3
        Doubles – 60th in Div 3
        Singles – 92nd in Div 2
All Events – Hdcp 52nd in Div 2

We only had 625 youth bowl in the tournament.

This is why you did not receive any scholarship money.
