Virginia State USBC Open Checks Are In The Mail

The refund check for the Open are in the mail as of today (2020/04/05) and should be received this week.

2020 Virginia State Pepsi Youth Championships (Cancellation Notice)

Since the last Virginia State Pepsi Youth Championship update, USBC had pushed the Pepsi tournaments completion deadline from 15 May to 15 June, so a window of opportunity had opened. But with the Governors of Maryland and Virginia along with the DC Mayor’s new orders, the window has closed again.

With these latest developments the Virginia State Pepsi Youth Championships is now CANCELED. As with the other State bowling events, we will try and reschedule at a later date.

I will be reaching out to all the coaches as listed on the qualifier forms to arrange refund checks or to return checks not yet deposited. I will be sending a separate individual email regarding the returns to verify mailing addresses and to whom to make the check payable to. As this is a new experience for all, please show patience as I work my way through the entries.

I realize this burdens you, the coaches, with getting the refunds to your individual bowlers, but there is no other way.

If I can provide any additional information or assistance, please let me know.

As events continue to unfold, I will keep everybody informed if developments appear to open an opportunity to have a tournament this season.

Virginia State Women’s Tournament Cancelled

Hello fellow Virginia State bowlers:

With the events of the last few days, the Virginia Women’s State Tournament has been cancelled. Tournament Director Anne Ray will be issuing refund checks to the team captains in the next few days. We will visit the possibility of holding the Tournament later once this crisis has passed. We regret having to make this decision and will miss seeing you all.

The Virginia State Board of Directors will meet on April 19, 2020, to determine what action, if any, will be taken on the Virginia State Open Tournament scheduled to start May 16, 2020. Please follow us here for updated information.

Also, the decision has been made to cancel the Virginia State Annual Meeting on May 9, 2020 in Richmond, Virginia.

Virginia State USBC Statement on COVID-19 and Status of Women’s and Open Tournaments

At this time (March 13, 2020), the Virginia State Women’s and Open Tournaments are happening as scheduled. The Women’s Tournament is scheduled to start March 28/29, 2020 and the Open Tournament is scheduled to start May 16/17, 2020.

If you have a need to postpone, reschedule or cancel your entry, please contact the respective Tournament Managers (contact information listed at the bottom of this notice.)

The Virginia State USBC is committed to the health and safety of its membership and we continue to monitor the development of the COVID-19 pandemic. Updates to this will be posted as soon as possible.
