HAMPTON – William “Amos” Fargis, 87, a native of Rockingham Co. NC and a 61 year resident of Hampton left this world to be with his Savior Jesus Christ Sunday evening, September 22, 2013. He was a retired electrician since 1991. He was a member of Providence Free Will Baptist church and the Seniors group “The Getabouts.” He was a Hall of Fame Member and past President of the VA State Bowling Association and Hampton Roads Bowling Association. He was a WWII veteran in the army. Amos was preceded in death by his loving wife Colleen Fargis, three sisters Francis Walker, Pauline Carter, and Marie Morris, his father William C Fargis and mother Bessy Fargis. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter Cindy Deel and husband Gordon, Gary Fargis, Tom Fargis and wife Ursula, Keith Fargis, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm September 27 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Amos’s life will be at 12pm Saturday, September 28 at Providence Free Will Baptist Church 731 Little Back River Rd in Hampton. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton. Friends are encouraged to visit http://www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family. Reminder: Virginia State USBC Senior Tournament Entry Deadline September 13, 2013
Entry forms are available on our Tournaments page for the upcoming Virginia State USBC Senior Tournament, which will be held at AMF Lynchburg Bowl. The tournament runs from the weekend of September 28/29, 2013 thru November 9/10, 2013 (with no bowling October 19/20, 2013). Entries close Friday, September 13, 2013 and any bowler age 50 or above (based on age as of September 27, 2013) may participate.
Virginia State 600 Bowling Club 2013 Tournament Entry Forms Are Now Available
Entry forms are now available for the upcoming Virginia State 600 Bowling Club 2013 Tournament. The tournament will be at Holiday Bowl in Chester VA on October 19-20, 2013. Virginia State USBC Jamboree Hall of Fame Dinner
The 2013 Virginia State USBC Hall of Fame Dinner will be held at the Best Western, 820 E. Madison Street, Covington, VA 24426 on September 14, 2013. Doors open at 6:00pm and dinner starts at 6:30pm. Tickets are $25.00. This year’s inductees are Ann Harrison (Appomattox River USBC) for Meritorious Service and Laurie Zirkle (Greater Roanoke Area USBC) for Bowling Accomplishments.
