The 2021-2022 bowling season is underway. And the 2022 Virginia State Pepsi USBC Youth Bowling Championships plans are underway also. We are maintaining the change in the advancement ratio implemented last year. That is the advancement ratio being dropped to least one (1) for every seven (7) entries per division, or major fraction thereof, including last-place ties. At the 8 th entry, you will have 2 qualifiers in that division.
Attached information includes cover letter, November qualifier form, State Level rules, and State Level qualifier form.
First qualifying window is 7 Nov – 20 Nov 2021.
Second qualifying window is 23 Jan – 5 Feb 2022.
Remember qualifying at the League Level is still by SCRATCH scores. If a bowler qualifies to advance to the STATE LEVEL and pays the appropriate entry fee, the bowler can then pay an additional $10 to participate in the optional handicap side event in the same age division. All divisions are based solely on the bowler’s birthday, not their ages as of 1 August. See the dates in the rules.
LEAGUE LEVEL qualifiers advance to the STATE LEVEL which will be held at Bowler Mechanicsville in Mechanicsville, Virginia outside Richmond. The 2022 dates are as follows:
- April 23 and 24
- April 30 and May 1
- May 7 and 8
The champions in the U12, U15 and U18 divisions will advance to the Junior Gold Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan in July 2022. Champions in the optional handicap divisions do NOT advance to the Junior Gold Championships.
Thanks once again for your support of the Pepsi tournament. As a reminder, we awarded over $35,000 in scholarships in the 2021 tournament.
