In Memoriam – Walter “Addison” Marble

The Virginia State USBC has been notified of the passing of Walter “Addison”  Marble of the South Boston USBC. Addison was a member of the Virginia State USBC Hall of Fame (1993).

Addison was also a member of the South Boston USBC Hall of Fame and a Honorary Life Member. Addison will be remembered for his service to the game of bowling.

BVL Honored As 2013 Top-Rated Nonprofit

Metropolitan Area Washington D.C., October 7, 2013 – BVL announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that BVL received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients.

BVL Announces Fifth Consecutive Year of Increased Contributions

Thanks to several significant contributions from major industry partners, increasing participation from bowling proprietors, and the addition of new associations, The Bowlers to Veterans Link realized an upturn in total donations for the recently-concluded fiscal year – rising from approximately $796,000 in the 11-12 season to $843,000 in the 12-13 season.  This marks the fifth consecutive year of growth for the sport of bowling’s oldest and most successful charity.

The state of Virginia ranked among the top ten states based on contributing associations for 2012-13 season, and the Virginia Peninsula USBC Association was among the top ten local associations in donations for the 2012-13 season.
